News Release: Dr. John Reitz on a 100 Year Lifestyle

News Release – Dr. John Reitz presents on a 100 Year Lifestyle on October 7, 2013

Sheboygan’s FREE Natural Health class series is pleased to announce that our next Natural Health class will feature noted Sheboygan Chiropractor and community volunteer, Dr. John Reitz. He will speak on Monday night, October 7 at 7 p.m. at the Northshore Gathering, 3821 Kohler Memorial Dr. in Sheboygan.  His topic, Living a 100 Year Lifestyle, is sure to fascinate young and old alike.

Dr. Reitz is a licensed affiliate with Dr. Eric Plasker who developed the programs and authored the book, 100 Year Lifestyle. During this class, Dr. Reitz will explain why it is easier to maintain health than it is to try to recover it once lost. And the importance of having a healthy spine and nervous system in order to live an active, healthy, quality of life for 80, 90, 100 years and beyond based on the ground breaking work of Dr. Plasker.

Centenarians, those people who live to be 100 years of age, are one of the world’s fastest growing segments of the population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, that number is expected to grow by 746% between now and 2040. Right now there are 55,000 centenarians in the U.S. and with the Baby Boomers fast approaching, that number is expected to grow to 4.2 million! That also includes 60 million people over the age of 80! Also, according to statistics, 1 in 50 women and 1 in 200 men will live to be 100 yrs. old!

50% of the babies born since 200 are expected to live to age 100 according to the British Medical Journal. We all are probably going to live longer than we think, but will we have the quality of live necessary to make that aging enjoyable? Developing a vision and plan for living that long is critically important and that plan needs to include health, finances, hobbies, and ways to make good use of that time. Dr. Reitz will discuss some of these concepts as well.

Our guest will also talk about not only the pitfalls of our sedentary lifestyles, but the fact that most of us will work for 45 years and most of those years will be spent sitting at a desk or commuting to and from work. Some calculations show that figure to be almost 15 years of sitting, which means a lot of poor posture, strain, and damage to the spine occurring during that time. He recommends that for every 50 minutes of sitting, there be about 10 minutes of moving around to keep the spine and muscles mobile and flexible.

Please join us for this very interesting talk on how to live well to age 100!
